- the setting here is in San Francisco china town, and we visit a couple of places, the market, the alleyways and the apartment, these places help tell where Meimei and her family live, where they shop and where Meimei runs off to.
- oh boy are you in trouble
- In this frame Meimei and her mom are still talking and she had been distracted and bumps into an older woman, since her mother had just yelled at her saying "stupid girl" Meimei starts to run away cry, angry and upset. the dialogue her mom choice to use made Meimei so upset she started to run
- we not concerning this girl. This girl have not concerning for us.
- in this frame Meimei is running away from her mom, Meimei is very upset and frustrated. as she is running down the alleyways she ran until it hurt and realizes that she was not running from anything, the alleyways contain no escape route she starts to head back home
- the little girl named Meimei, Meimei is only 9 years old and she is a very experienced chess player, she is one of the best in her state. Meimei is the girl in the pink shirt her mom is the girl in the red dress, Meimei and her family have a chines culture which makes her life as an American chess player a lot harder.
- In this frame Meimei's mom is waiting for her at the dinner table and is ferrous with Meimei, but she refuses to look at Meimei, she thinks that Meimei has no concern for her so she has no concern for Meimei.
- some internal conflict and irony is when Meimei starts to think that her and her mom are a chess game and her mom is winning, knocking all Meimei's pieces off, then she gets knocked off and falls and feels like she is flying.
