Hi! Today we are going to be taking a trip to learn about UbD!
The three stages of UbD are desired results, assessment evidence, and learning plan. Desired results are what I want my students to understand. Stage 2 assessment evidence is figuring out how my students will understand what I want them to understand. And stage 3 is what can I do in the classroom to prepare my students for the assessment?
The advantages of utilizing UbD is it helps teachers to understand what the students need to be able to understand in order to get a good grade on the assessments. It also gives teachers feedback on what they can do to make the learning in their classroom more affective.
Some key words used in UbD is established goals which means the things you want to accomplish in a lesson, and is what do students need to learn and be able to do? Performance tasks are activities or projects that let the teacher (me) know if you have learned what I wanted you to learn. Learning activities are how the student will learn the information.
Learning goals are what you want the student to learn or be able to do by the end of the lesson. Feedback and assessment is how will I know what they know I want them to know? And lastly teaching and learning is how you will accomplish your tasks and goals so that your students can know or do a certain thing.
