Storyboard Text

  • This is Skylar. She is a seventh grader in 2026.
  • She awakens to check her email, facebook, and all other kinds of social media
  • After a quick bite, she checks her homework online to make sure she is up to date.
  • On her way to school, Skylar texts her friends to meet up with them.
  • In small groups, Skylar, Tim, and Liz did the assignment on different modes of technology (mobile, laptop, and SMART Board).
  • In music class, Skylar is able to record a song on her trombone, while Wyatt writes his own music on his laptop, and Tessa writes music on the board.
  • At lunch, Skylar talks to her friends as well as playing on her phone.
  • In a different class, the students are all researching the job they want. Skylar wants to be a veterinarian and is Skyping a real vet! John wants to be a police officer and is doing a police academy simulation. May is watching dance videos and choreographing her own number with hopes of being a hip hop dancer.
  • After school, Skylar runs at track practice to try and better her time. She records her run, to analyze if afterwards as well as wear a watch to monitor heart rate, steps, and time.
  • After eating and taking a shower, Skylar relaxes on the couch to watch some TV, while texting her friend and checking her social media sites.
  • Skylar finally goes to sleep after doing some homework on her laptop and a final "good night" on her phone.
  • It is clear that technology is an essential part of Skylar's day. Her education is enhanced with technology which allows her to collaborate with her classmates, individualize her instruction, as well as stay engaged with what she is learning. Even her music and sports involve technology. Throughout the day, she also uses technology to stay connected with her peers as well.
