Storyboard Text

  • As an educator and a parent, it's important to take into considerationmany cases of special care and how to help a person live a normal lifeeven with a disability. The story provides an excellent view on howparents can educate themselves and create a positive outlook towardstaking care of the education and development of their children with specialneeds.
  • Every step of the story was a learning point. I came to know aboutthis rare genetic disease called Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome and howcritical the condition of the disease can be to a person. The story has highly motivated me not only to look into rare disease children with a newpositive perspective but also to let their parents have a voice in and outside the classroom so thatpeople can learn from the direct experience which has more emotional and educational impact.
  • I would like to have workshops with parent children interactions.where parents canshare their stories verbally, so that their voice can be heard. If help is needed we can findhelp or resources to help those parents and also learn from parents different strategiesthey used to help them deal with their daily routines.
  • I would create a group chat within my classroom or school where parents can feel freeto express themselves. Create a facebook page where parents can do a writer's response entry or a readerresponse entire.
  • Monthly journal where the parents of the children can publish a story each month toshare anything exciting the child did during the month or any new development withinthe child's progress stage for our classroom.
  • Regular parents-teacher meeting where all the parents can discuss their updates andprocess on taking care of children with special needs.
