Simone dreamed of one day growing up and making a difference in the world. She wasn't sure how she was going to do that until one day an idea came to her.
I want to be a nurse when I grow up. I want to help people and make a difference!
Simone studied and studied even though it was really hard.
I know this will be worth it once I've passed the NCLEX and become a real nurse.
Simone was so happy. She was finally going to become a nurse. She thought all her dreams were going to come true.
I Passed!!! I'm a real nurse!
First Simone tried bedside nursing. She was questioning all the choices she had made to get here. She felt like she wasn't making a difference at all. They were short staffed, over worked and had little to no support. It was a very hard couple of years.
What am I doing? It's only been a year and I already feel burnt-out.
I'm not sure how I feel about Home Health, but wow do I really like doing wound care. Its so cool to watch the body heal!
Next Simone tried Home Health nursing. Simone was not fond of all the driving and being by herself but did find some things she liked. The thing she liked most of all was wound care. She really enjoyed those visits and actually thought she was making a difference in her patients lives.
Lastly Simone tried wound care nursing. Simone had finally found the place where she belonged as a nurse. She loved working with people, helping them with their wounds and chronic conditions, and loved the team she worked with.
I love wound care, the more gross the better! I finally understand why I worked so hard to become a nurse.
Simone was happy with where she was at in her career but felt like something was missing. She knew with her current degree that she would not be able to advance or seek any positions of management to have a bigger impact on her community. That's when she decided to go back to school and get her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She was very excited for the new possibilities that would open up for her.
I have an idea! I'll go back to school and become a BSN Super Nurse!
Simone studied and studied. It was different than getting her ADN but nonetheless difficult work. She had to think about her new role as a BSN Super Nurse and what that would mean for her and her future.
This is hard work but I know it will be worth it.

With this new degree she could take positions of management and affect real change at her current job and beyond.
I passed! I'm a BSN Super Nurse!!
Simone had so many ideas. One of them was to create a program that would help at risk populations in the community. In the context of her current job this would help people with reoccurring wounds from chronic conditions stay out of the hospital.
