480 BCE the Persian king died having not fulfilled his vow to destroy Athens and his son decided to fulfill it for him
480 BCE Persia decides to march Athens from the north via a mountain pass and are meet with 7000 Greeks 300 of which were Spartans
After leaving the 300 Spartans to defend the mountain pass the rest of them decided to not go back to Athens but to get on there boats and fight on them instead in a narrow canal bc the Greeks had small easy to maneuver boats and the Persians had large long boat designed for long ocean travels
