  • Here we are reporting live during the protests of the Deepwater Horizon BP Oil Spill. The spill took place about a month ago on April 20th, 2010. A month ago, 210 million gallons of oil were released into the Gulf of Mexico. Thousands of animals were coated in oil and are now dying or extremely sick. Life can no longer thrive in the region of the oil spill, at least not until the far future. These people behind me seek justice by punishing the CEO of BP, Anthony Hayward.

  • The oil spill was caused by an explosion and subsequent well blowout. This was due to a failed cementing job and issues with the blowout preventer. This could've been prevented by improving safety protocols, communicating better, and more focus on supervision.

  • The Coast Guard began with search and rescue efforts to attempt to save people. The military has now begun to help clean up the oil and approximately 7,500 personnel and 170 vessels are involved in the clean up. People are out there working their hardest trying to reverse or at least improve this environmental disaster. They are doing things like skimming oil off the surface, using dispersants to break down the oil, and employing sorbents. Now, back to Lindsey for the weather.
