  • Long ago, in China, the Jade Emperor decided that there should be a way to tell time. On his birthday he told all the animals that there would be a great swimming race.
  • You shall compete in the great swimming race.
  • The rat and cat are very poor swimmers. so they had jumped on the ox.

  • May we go on your back for the race?
  • The rat and cat were very excited when the ox took the lead. The rat then suddenly pushed the cat off and leaped of the ox into first to finish the race. Sadly, the ox was awarded the second year of the zodiac.
  • Congratulation on winning the first year of the zodiac.
  • The tiger got third year of the zodiac. Not far behind rabbit came in fourth but we never swam. He only stepped on a few stones and found a floating log.
  • Well done, you put a lot of effort and for that I shall grant you third year.
  • The dragon came in fifth which was very mysterious for the emperor.
  • Why are you not in first, you can fly and swim very well?
  • I was on my way when I found a group that needed water so I made rain. Then when I was about to finish when I saw rabbit on a log so I blew it to help.
  • The Jade emperor heard hooves and was expecting the horse to get sixth but the snake moved through its legs and got sixth year. The horse seventh.

  • The goat, monkey, and rooster all finished. The Jade Emperor awarded the goat eighth, the monkey ninth, and the rooster tenth.

  • The last year of the zodiac has not been taken yet. The emperor started to worry until he heard grunts from the boar.
