Willam Mcdougall do not come in Canada, if you do we will find you!Signed Louis Riel and The Metis.
Yes, lets take Upper Fort Garry!
As leader of this Canadian Party, lets take Upper Fort Garry.
No! Mr. Schultz, Lets not take Upper Fort Garry!
No, we do not!
Hello Francophone and Anglophone communities. I am Louis Riel, I want to create a council.
Right now Louis Riel is making a proclamation. Which means a large, and important speech.
Within days of turning away Mcdougall at the border, Riel and his army took Upper Fort Garry.
Finally I can come into Canada! Ha I showed those jerks that are with Louis Riel.
SIGH..... we failed.
Give up already!!
There was a rumour that a man named John Schultz and his Canadian Party wanted the Fort and the firearms.
Sir, if we walk out there we will get killed! if we walk out with our hands up we wont get killed!
Next the Metis made a proclamation.
I am John Schultz, and I hate Louis Riel!
On December 1,1869, Mcdougall crossed the border into Canada.
Please, have peace.
Fire!!!
John Schultz transformed his home into a fort for his pro Canadian Army. But he and his army was defeated by Louis Riel and his Army. John's Army was captured and brought to jail.
Seven of the men arrested at John Schultz's house escaped from the jail. John Schultz escaped from the same prison a few weeks later.
My name is Sir john A Macdonald. Manitoba will now become a province. Also the Metis will have rights to the land. French and English would be official languages. Their religious rights will be safe.
After the jail break, a man named Norbert Parisien was mistakenly arrested for being a Metis spy. He escaped, stealing a gun. When Hugh Sutherland rode up to him on his horse, Parisien who was mentally challenged, shot him. Sutherland knew that it was an accident and asked for Parisien's life to be spared. The mob disagreed beat him and Parisien later died. Riel called for peace.
The mob separated but some of the men were thrown in prison as they passed Upper Fort Garry. Thomas was one of the men. In prison, Scott was being very disrespectful and violent to the guards about their race and religion. He even upset his fellow prisoners. Scott was charged with treason against Riel's provisional government. Riel followers made an example of Scott by death by firing squad in front of the Fort. His last words, this is horrible, this is cold blooded murder.
This is horrible. This is coldblooded murder
Yay!!
Prime Minister Macdonald finally began to talk with the people of the Red River District. Riel's provisional government was asked to send a representative to Ottawa. On March 23, 1870, representatives Joseph Richot, John Black and Henry Scott left for Ottawa to negotiate terms of entry into Confederation based on the Metis list of rights. The Metis and the federal government agreed to Manitoba becoming a province with French and English as official languages and religious rights would be safe. The Metis would receive rights to their land.
