Hi Sarah, I have a question for today's homework. Could you help me with it? Please?
Sure! Ask away Luke! I'm happy to help!
When a solid turns to a gas, what is it called? That's my first question.
Oh! I can answer that! But it's a tricky question! Hmm... it's called sublimation!
Thank you so much! But I have one more question. What are the properties of the three states of matter?
Okay! Sure!
I can answer that. But the answer is a bit long. How about I explain it to you at lunch. Sounds good?
Solids are one of the States of matter. The particle arrangement of solids are tightened and fixed together but can melt at very high melting points (at most). It has definite shape and volume. And it is really hard and strong. So it won't break easily.
Liquids are also one of the States of matter. The particle arrangement of liquids are close together but with no regular arrangement. It has definite volume, but takes any shape of the container. It flows with ease and it has no trouble going through very small spaces.
Gases are one of the States of matter and the last one I will be explaining. The particle arrangement of gases are loose and are far from each other. It has no definite shape and volume. But like liquids (in a different way), it fits in its container by expanding.
Hopefully that helped!
