Storyboard Text

  • Many years ago there was a king whose name was King Midas. He was a greedy king who wanted anything to be rich. He had a loving wife and a adored daughter.
  • One day King Midas was walking in his garden when he saw strange feet peeking from one of his rose bushes. He called for the gardener's son. There lying before the two men was a sleeping satyr.
  • "zzzzz"
  • "What do you make of that?"
  • "It's a satyr, Your Majesty."
  • "I shall send word to your master at once."
  • The king threatened to send word to the satyr's master, but the satry begged that he didn't. They made a bargain that the he would entertain him if he didn't tell his master about his foolishness. The satyr stayed for a week to entertain the king and was sent back to his master.
  • "I beg you not to do that he will be angry with me."
  • When Midas returned the satyr to Dionysus, he was given on wish for taking care of his satyr and returning it safely. The king went to his palace and thought about it for a day. He returned the next day to make his wish of turning everything he touched to gold.
  • "I would like to turn whatever I touch to gold."
  • "You have one wish for taking care of my satyr."
  • When the king got back to his palace he tested out his new power in his garden. He touched all of his roses and they all turned to gold. He felt doubtful about turning all his roses gold. Inside the palace, the king asked for wine and when his lips touched the cup it turned gold. He started to worry if he would be able to eat. Then his daughter came to give him a hug but he tried to tell her to stay away, but she didn't listen and turned to gold.
  • "What have I done to you."
  • "Please! Help me and my daughter."
  • The king went to the god Dionysus to ask for help. The god only told him to find the river Pactolus and wash himself in its water, so the king set off in search for the river alone.
  • King Midas walked for miles in seach for the river. He was worried about his daughter.
  • When he reached the river it was deep and strong. He got inside the water and was instantly tooken away by the current. He had managed to reach the shore and wondered if the curse had wore off.
  • He got to shore and found tiny nuggets of gold laying around the river bed. The god had spoken the truth and Midas was happy. The power had left him and he returned home.
  • "I have learned my lesson and I am content."
  • As he approached the palace, his daughter ran to him and hugged him tight. Midas was overjoyed to hear her laughter again. He had learned his lesson and was content for the rest of his life.
