- I'm sorry, Warren, I don't love you. You see, when I'm away from you, I forget you and go out with other boys. So I know I don't love you.

- Warren McIntyre was a student at Yale, and her come home for the summer holidays. He is in love with Marjorie Harvey, but she doesn't love him. Warren wants to spend time alone with Marjorie, but he can't, because her cousin Bernice was visiting her for a month. Although Bernice wads pretty, she was no fun at a party, She had nothing interesting to say.

- When Bernice goes to her bed, listen Marjorie and her mother talking about her and saying that boys don't love her because she is boring. The next day she tells her cousin that she listen all and that she wants Marjorie's help.

- The following Wednesday evening, there was a dinner-dance at the golf club. At dinner, G. Reece Stoddard was siting on Bernice's right and in the left was siting Charley Paulson.

- During the next week, Bernice had a wonderful time. A lot of men's want to dance with her. At a party, someone started talking again about Bernice having her hair bobbed. And, in a few moments, Bernice found herself sitting in a barber's chair. When the barber finish, Bernice looked around for Warren, but he had left with Marjorie.

- That evening, Mr and Mrs Harvey were deeply shocked to see Bernice's boyishly short hair, and she decides to leave on the next train. When everyone was asleep, she wrote a letter to her aunt. She piked up scissors and go to Marjorie room and cut her braids. She lived in the house and, before she goes to the train station, she goes to Warren's house and threw the braids at the front door.
