Romeo and Juliet get married that day by Friar Laurence, and nothing could have made them happier. Their happiness is sadly short-lived, however. As Romeo was enjoying his day knowing he was married to his beloved, he and his friends became mixed up in a conflict with Tybalt Capulet, Juliet's cousin.
Romeo tries to prevent the conflict, leading to Mercutio, Romeo's best friend, getting killed by Tybalt. As he dies, Mercutio says, "Why the devil did you stand between us? I was hurt under your arm." In his anger and grief, Romeo goes after Tybalt and kills him for what he did. The prince soon finds out about the murders and banishes Romeo from Verona.
Friar Laurence tries to explain to Romeo that the prince was being merciful by not having Romeo killed, but Romeo refuses to listen to him as he realizes that he can never be with Juliet again. Friar promises Romeo that he will figure things out and sends Romeo to his exlie in Mantua.
Friar then explains his plan to Juliet, giving her a vial to drink that would make her look like she was dead when she was really sleeping, and told her that she would wake up with a kiss from Romeo.
Juliet does everything according to Friar's plan, thinking that Romeo would receive a letter explaining the situation. However, Romeo never got the letter and instead received news that Juliet was dead. Upon hearing this news, Romeo rode back to Verona as fast as he could to see Juliet-
-And when he saw her, he thought she was truly dead. Unable to bear the thought of living without Juliet, Romeo drinks poison and kills himself. Juliet wakes up soon after, and seeing Romeo dead next to her, she stabbed herself with a dagger she found and lay down beside Romeo, where they were finally able to be together.
