Today we are learning about the three different stages of UbD. Stage 1 is Learning Goals, Stage 2 is Feedback and Assessment, and Stage 3 is Learning plans.
Learning goals are the desired achievements of the curriculum. These goals are goals a student in that class should achieve. Learning activities are the specific experiences and classwork done to develop learning that supports outcomes.
Stage 3 of UbD
What are learning goals and learning activities?
Stage 1 of UbD
Stage 1 is about identifying desired results. Teachers think "What is it that I want students to understand and be able to do. These are established goals created at the beginning of a lesson. The big ideas or "meat of the potato" of the lesson are found in this Stage
Stage 2 is determining assessment/feedback and assessment. Feedback and assessment is to improve a student's performance on evidence showing what they know. Teachers may think "How will I know that they understand and know what I am teaching them. Things such as performance tasks, and other evidence are given
Stage 2
Stage 2 of UbD
Yes, performing tasks are things like tests and quizzes that are handed in and graded. This shows you can demonstrate the skill being taught. Other evidence is classwork that is done but not graded
Are performance tasks and other evidence all of the homework and tests/quizzes you give us?
Stage 3 is learning goals/teaching and learning. Teachers may think "What do I need to do in the classroom to prepare them for the assessment." Learning activities and learning goals are used in this stage.
