  • Jacoby Ellsbury
  • Early LifeJacoby Ellsbury was born September 11, 1983. The eldest of four children, he lived with his family on Warm Springs Indian Reservation in Oregon. His mother, Margie, is Navajo and descended from 19th century tribal leader Ganada Mucho.
  • Red Sox!Ellsbury played for the Boston Red Sox from 2007-2013, where he won 2 World Series championships. He was named the American League Comeback Player of the Year in 2011, won a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award, and led the American League in stolen bases in '08, '09, and '13.
  • Minor League to Major League!In 2005, Ellsbury was drafted by the Boston Red Sox. After two years in the minor leagues, he joined the Red Sox, lauded for his speed, hitting, and fielding. As an enrolled member of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, Ellsbury was the first Native American of Navajo descent to play in the MLB.
  • A Star AthleteAs a young boy, he showed promise in every sport he pursued. Ellsbury went to Oregon State University, where he was was a first-team All American baseball player.
  • Yankees!In 2014, Ellsbury signed a contract with the New York Yankees. He played with them from 2014 to 2017. Unfortunately, he was sidelined due to multiple injuries throughout 2018 and 2019 and was released by the Yankees in Nov. 2019.
