Walk Two Moons is the award winning classic novel from Sharon Creech about a young girl named Sal and her coming of age journey as she travels across America with her Gram and Gramps in search of her mother. While Sal passes the time on their long cross-country adventure telling her grandparents all about the uptight and excitable Phoebe Winterbottom and her escapades, Sal discovers that the truth of her own story is hidden underneath.
The setting of a story is the all important time and place. In the book, Walk Two Moons, Sal moves from Bybanks, Kentucky to Euclid, Ohio and them embarks on a cross country journey with her grandparents. In this activity, students can use a map to identify and illustrate the different places that Sal and her grandparents visited along the way.
Postcards from Sal's Journey!
Old Faithful, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
Dear Dad,Gram, Gramps, and I went to see the Old Faithful geyser at Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. At first it was only spitting but then it was like a tea kettle blew its top and a huge jing-bang spray of water came out! Gram said "It looks like an upsidey-down waterfall!" I miss you. I hope you and Margaret are having a swell time.Love,Sal
