One night mommy and I took out our tent for our weekly campings in our back yard. "Tonight looks extremely bright mama," said Tahj.
"Yes, it does son," said momma. "But why? What are all of those different color spots?" asked Tahj.
Mom remembered a story that her mom shared with her when she was a little girl. She would sit on the porch every night and look up at the sky. This was her favorite place to be. She would imagine touching the stars and sitting on them.
"Oh my dear son, those are stars, galaxies and maybe even an astronaut." Said momma. Tahj asked, "what are stars? Where do they come from?
Well if you look up at the sky at night, you may notice thousands of lights. Some are dim and some are bright. Some look blue and some look white. While others look orange and others red. It is not time for bed.
Thousands of years people have watched from far. While ancestors told us stories about stars.
Stars are giant balls of gas. Another name we call them are mass. Clouds of dust and gas get together, to become one in a certain area. More dust and gas will connect, but wait a minute their not done yet! It has to spin and turn to become very big and hot. It's almost ready for us to spot!
Here come the many stars. Which they look cooler from afar. Hot stars are white and blue. If you look hard, you'll see cold ones too. Can you guess which ones they are if you are looking from afar?
The red and orange stars are so cold. They might need a blanket or their mommies to hold. They run all around until they get out of energy. The little white dwarf light goes out completely.
Some stars go out with big explosions. Let's just call them supernovas. But there's more than one dwarf in the sky you'll see. Wake up Tahj, don't go to sleep on me!
The most common stars are the red dwarfs. You still have different color ones like brown and yellow too! Which little dwarf looks prettier to you?
If you ever get lost across land or seas. Just follow the north star it will guide you to me.
Now go to sleep, you'll need your rest. Tomorrow morning is your big test.
It's morning time, so rise and shine. I forgot to mention my favorite star. If you look closer then you will see. Can you guess which one it might be?
It lights up the day and gives us heat. So much heat we have to take a seat. We like having so much fun in it.Can you guess it Tahj? ITS THE SUN!
