  • Hello, my name is Jacques Charles, and I am known for creating the Charles Law. I was born and raised in Beaugency, France and I have been working in France my whole life
  • The main reason why I discovered my law, was because in 1787, France was going through some hard times with the French Revolution, so I decided to stay in my home and complete some investigations
  • I completed most of my investigations during the winter of 1787, where I studied gasses like oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide, which led to my creation of the Charles Law
  • The Charles Law states that volume is directly proportional to temperature, as long as pressure is constant. The formula for my law is V1/T1 = V2/T2, where V=volume and T=temperature
  • The Charles Law is still relevant today because it is used to determine the thermal expansion of gas, which can actually be connected to many different things that humans do
  • There are many different everyday activities that are connected to the Charles Law. Some examples include Hot Air Balloons, Turkey Timer. Pumping a Ping Pong Ball. and Tire PressureAs you can tell, the Charles Law is very helpful to understand many things and it is a key figure in everyday life
