Mbok Srini was a widow. She lived alone and felt submerged in loneliness. As the days past she could not take it anymore. That day she went to wish for a child to Butho ljo, a horrendous monster who habituated the edge of the village.
He agreed but in return asked "when the child turns six years old you will return her to me to become my meal". Mbok Srini desperate to have companies agreed and the ogre gave her a cucumber seed to plant in her garden.
Numerous cucumbers grew from the plant. One of the cucumbers grew larger than all the other and emitted golden radiance. Mbok Srini opened it carefully and inside she found a baby girl
Sh named the girl Timun Emas. The two lived happily together and the widow was no longer lonely. It had almost been six years and Mbok Srini, could not bare to lose her child.
She climbed the southern mountain to seek guidance from a powerful hermit. The hermit presented her with 4 small pouches. " give these to Timun Emas, they will help against the ogre." the hermit said.
The giant arrived soon after, and Mbok Srini gave the 4 pouches to her daughter. Timun Emas ran away as far as she could with the 4 puches.
