- The characteristics of life that I will cover are, organization and cells, and metabolism
- Next is metabolism. Living organisms, like ourselves use energy to power all of the life processes such as repair, movement, and growth
- We, as humans, are very organized and are multicellular, which means we are made up of more than one cell
- Great question, we are made up of tissue. Tissue are a group of cells that have similar abilities and allow organs to function. But there are different tissues for different parts of our body
- So if we are multicellular, what are we made up of?
- So, to conclude, us humans are multicellular, complex, and are organized. Then metabolism is used to get energy that living organisms need to function. ATP helps deliver the energy the cells needs to help living organisms function.
- In science, there also things called reactants and products. Reactants are on the left side of the equation (what you put in). Then products are on the right side of the equation (what you get out).
- So, using what we know about metabolism, when we eat food, our body produces ATP. ATP provides the cell energy needed to drive the chemical reactions that enable an organism to function. The sum of all of the chemical reactions take in and transform energy from materials from the environment.
