- This is Paul Rusesabagina, A Hutu and His wife, a Tutsi, and their kids. In Rwanda, Belgium had divided people into Hutu's and Tutsi's, this divided the nation. Belgium gives Rwanda independence. He works at a hotel.

- The Hutu's started to hurt the Tutsi's and Paul witnessed a Hutu killing Tutsi's on his way to work.
- Just after a treaty was signed that ensured that neither of the Tutsi or Hutu tribes would hurt each other, the president's plane was shot down and he died. The Hutu tribe blamed the Tutsi's even though it was them.
- After this happened Paul had to pay 100,000 francs to ensure his families safety at the hotel he worked at. He helped approximately 1200 people during the conflict.
- After waiting a long time the Army general decided to help as he didn't want to be labelled as a War Criminal. He used trucks to get refugees over the boarder.
- After what seemed like forever Paul, Tatiana and their kids made it to a refugee camp and were reunited with their nieces and made it across the boarder to safety.
