  • Why?
  • I didn't do it.
  • Who would want to kill Wellington?
  • Can I see her ?
  • Thanks for the info Mrs.Alexander
  • Christopher was a special type of person who had a difficult time imagining the thoughts and feeling of others. "I find people confusing" pg 14. He had a love for numbers and science. These subjects made sense to him. Christopher avoids human interaction whenever possible. Despite all this, he takes pride in what he knows and that gives him the confidence to go on with daily life.
  • You need to stop this investigation immediately!
  • Christopher found Mrs. Shear's dog Wellington on the front lawn murdered with a pitchfork. Mrs. Shears came out and found Christopher kneeling down next to Wellington. "I had been hugging the dog for four minutes when I heard screaming" pg 4 She was furious and called the police. She believed Christopher was the one who killed her dog.
  • So...this is what he has been up to
  • The police questioned Christopher and arrested him on the spot. They believed he was guilty of the crime. He was brought to the station and locked in a cell all alone. Christopher's dad was called in the middle of the night to come and bail him out.
  • I am sorry, I killed Wellington
  • That is where you have been hiding....
  • Prior to this incident Siobhan, Christopher's teacher encouraged him to write a book. Christopher decided to write a murder mystery based on his investigation of Wellington's death. "Siobhan said the book should begin with something to grab peoples attention. That is why I started with the dog" pg 5.
  • I have to go find mom in London
  • Christopher will never forget the day two years ago when father told him his mother was in the hospital, not feeling well and could not have visitors. "Mother was a small person who smelt nice" pg 23. She died two weeks later.
  • You need to come back to the station, your dad is worried
  • To begin his investigation, Christopher went to the homes in the neighborhood questioning each of the neighbors. The most helpful neighbor was Mrs. Alexander. After spending time with her, he learns Mr. Shears may be a suspect. She shares that Mr. Shears became very friendly with his mom and it upset his dad very much.
  • Oh my, it has been so long!
  • What is he doing here?
  • Father disagrees with Christopher's investigation. He asks him to stop and leave the neighbors alone. "Father banged the table with his fist really hard so that the plates and his knife jumped around...then he shouted, "I will not have that man's name mentioned in my house" pg 49. Clearly father was angry with Mr. Shears.
  • A Level Math Test Today Good Luck!
  • Father finds what Christopher has written so far and the information Christopher has discovered about their family. The dad hides the book after a physical fight with Christopher.
  • Why would you tell him that ?
  • Christopher is determined to find his book and during the house search, he finds letters from his mom written to him, after she had supposedly died. "And that is when I saw the letters" pg 94. He was very upset and unsure of what to do. Father comes home and finds Christopher sick and upset. Later that night, father admits he killed Wellington.
  • Please let me make this up to you.
  • What was Christopher going to do... he cannot live with father who lied to him. Why would he do something like this? "The mind is just a complicated machine" pg 116. People do not always know why they do the things they do. He decides to go find his mother in London.
  • I am so happy for you!
  • Christopher takes the train to London. Trying not to be noticed. "Then he said, "What's your name?" and I said, "Christopher Boone." and he said, "Where do you live?" pg 148. He was able to escape a police officer who was trying to convince him to come to the police station and speak with his dad. With help from strangers in London he finds his way to his mom's house.
  • My dream came true...
  • Mother was thrilled to see Christopher and learns father had told him she had died. He also learns that she lives with Mr. Shears. "What the hell is he doing here? pg 191. He was less enthusiastic to see Christopher.
  • Christopher convinces his mom to take him back to Swindon, so he could take the A level math test. A test he has been looking forward to for some time. "Then, when I've got a degree in math and physics, I will be able to get a job and earn lots of money" pg 45. Christopher has been planning on taking the test for some time. He truly believes this test will set him up for adult life.
  • Mother was furious with Christopher's dad for telling him she had died. "So you decided to just wipe me out of his life altogether?" pg 196. She and Christopher wanted to live in the house, until after the test and so they can figure out where they are going to live.
  • Christopher is so upset with his father, he cannot speak to him and doesn't know if he will ever be able to trust him again. Father buys Christopher a golden retriever dog, to regain his trust. "And I named the dog Sandy" page 220.
  • Christopher's mother gets an apartment in Swindon to be close to Christopher and to make up for all the missed years together.
  • Christopher gets an A on the math and science test which will allow him to enter the university. He and his dog Sandy plan to live at the University proving you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. "I know this because I went to London, solved a mystery of Who killed Wellington? and I found my mother and I was brave and wrote a book, this means I can do anything" pg 221
