Storyboard Text

  • You ugly girl, you know what you’re going to amount to when you grow up? Nothing! I don’t know why your father lets you two run wild like animals. Too bad your mother is dead.
  • When Jem and Scout walked past Mrs. Dubose's house, they were met by an onslaught of insults.
  • And then she said we’d amount to nothing! And she said it’s your fault for letting us run wild!
  • Easy does it, son. She’s just an old lady and she’s ill. You just hold your head high and be a gentleman. Whatever she says to you, it’s your job not to let her make you mad.
  • They would run home and tell Atticus about the cruel things she said to them.
  • She can't be *that* sick, the way she hollers at us.
  • ... We already have a Finch in the courthouse being a lawyer for a (N-word). Your father is no better than the trash he works for!
  • Little girl, what are you doing in those overalls? Start wearing a dress or you'll be waiting tables!
  • One day, on the way to town to buy toys, the children felt that Mrs. DuBose was extra cruel...
  • Shut up, Scout! I don't care!
  • CHOP!
  • This insult to Atticus was more than Jem could bear, so on their way home from town, when he saw that Mrs. Dubose had gone inside, he cut down all of her camellia flowers with Scout's new toy (a baton).
  • Jem! Remember what Atticus said about not letting her bother you!
