A Friday afternoon just before Christmas.
Storyboard Text
It is 3pm on the Friday before Christmas. Nalini is working in her busy pharmacy in Kettleton. Tracey, the counter assistant, has just returned, an hour late, from delivering some items to Kettleton Surgery. Nalini has just downloaded 50 ePrescriptions from the spine which have to be completed by 5:30 when the shop closes as they have to go on the delivery run at 9am sharp on Saturday.
Blimey Tracey! You’re late. We’re going to be pushed to finish these on time.
I’m sorry Nalini, but they asked me about Christmas deliveries
Sneezes
Well you could have called us. We’ll just have to plough on won’t we Susan?
But not until we’ve got rid of the pile of scripts we’ve already got here.
We’ve got about 10 people in the shop waiting for prescriptions.
Tracey, you’d better get back on the counter so that Susan can come back in here.
Alright, but don’t expect too much of me. I’ve got a terrible headache…
And so, the long afternoon continues. By 5pm, there is still a large queue of customers waiting for prescriptions, some of whom have been waiting for nearly 20 minutes. Things are getting a little fraught when…
Nalini, I’ve got Mrs Patel's daughter here. She wants to know if her mother’s prescription is ready.
Mrs Patel, Mrs Patel. I don’t remember seeing a prescription for her today.
I’m sorry Tracey, we don’t seem to have it here. Is she sure she brought it here?
She’s sure. She says it comes up from the doctor’s
It’s in the pile that we haven’t got round to yet.
Tell her it will be ready for delivery in the morning and we'll deliver it then
She says they have to get away now because the car is parked on double yellows and they want to miss the worst of the traffic.
I’ve told her that we’ll put it to the top of the pile and it will only be a few minutes.
10 items? Do you know how long this is going to take to dispense?
It’s only tablets isn’t it? Can't take that long.
Only tablets? Only tablets?! You don’t have a clue about dispensing!!
Stop it! Shouting in front of the customers isn’t going to get us anywhere.
Susan, you concentrate on Mrs Patel’s prescription
Tracey, get back out there on the counter.
Grudgingly, Susan gets on with Mrs Patel’s prescription, muttering under her breath and sneezing loudly. Nalini returns to checking the pile of prescriptions from the other waiting customers. Silence reigns for 2 minutes.
Nalini, Mrs Watson is here with Johnny. She says will you have a look at his foot?
I haven’t finished my module on feet yet.
Can’t you do it Tracey? I’m busy. .
I’ve had a quick look at it and I’ve recommended something for it
Oh, alright then. Tell her to give me a couple of minutes.
Nalini finishes checking the prescription she’s doing and takes it to the front of the shop, calling out the patient name as she goes. A patient stands up and Nalini hands him the prescription before turning to Mrs Watson and Johnny.
I’m so worried about poor Johnny’s foot.
He’s got these horrible black spots on them and when he picks them they bleed really badly.
