The story begins with a descriptions of Babhijan's marriage to Bhaijan. It details how Bi Mughlani took care of her, letting her become the frail person she was then. She had then become pregnant, with Bi Mughlani and Ammijan doting on her, with amulets, fakirs, charms, and other spiritual devices. However, she suffered a miscarriage, andthe child was lost. The second time, she also suffered a miscarriage. For the third pregnancy, she was treatedwith syrups, pills, and experienced doctors. Once the fetus' health had been secured, it was decided that thedelivery should occur at Aligarh. Having donned moreamulets on Bhabijan, a coach was reserved for the familyon the Toofan Mail. A woman ran into the coach, much to Bi Mughlani's annoyance. The woman then began the process of childbirth, causing Bi Mughlani to become quiteangry, though she still helped the woman give birth. After much commotion, the child of the woman was born. ThoughBi Mughlani was still raging at the woman, the woman requested the main character to give her a blade, to which the main character complied. As the train stops, it is revealed that the woman does not even have a ticket, and simply disappears into the crowd. The shock of witnessing the childbirth is too much to bear, and Bhabijan had another miscarriage
