  • The loveliest in the lands, the Filles Du Roi, or the 'King's Daughters'. They weren't actually the King's daughters, but the King had sent over 900 of them to New France to help with the population issues. The deal to get married was pretty sweet, so all of them were very keen to marry and raise children. Within 14 years, the King's plan had worked, and the population tripled in size, from 3200, to 10000!
  • The French Soldiers protected the colony from any invaders or those were not welcome. When they needed help, Intendant Jean Talon asked for aid from the King. The King sent 1500 soldiers to New France in return. However, these soldiers started burning down Haudenosaunee homes and villages, which spiked an uprising.
  • Priests, Nuns, and Missionaries had been sent to New France to help build the colony. They held services, taught in schools, ran hospitals, and cared for the poor. The other main reason they were here in North America was to convert First Nations people to their religion(s). When the Jesuits started arriving in the mid 1620's, they wrote journals back to France.
