- *voice over* Is the skin on your feet peeling? Are they covered in rashes and small bumps, with darkening of the skin?'
- Uh-huh. *noods*
- I am now going to show you how to fix your disease at home, by recrystallising some benzoic acid which is commonly used to kill fungal infections! *dramatic music*
- *goes through the process of recrystallising benzoic acid*
- "Step 1: Heat about 100mL of water to the boil using a 250mL beaker, using boiling chips to encourage even boiling "
- Step 2: "Add 1g of benzoic acid to the boiling water, stir until completely dissolved, then allow to cool. "
- Step 3: "Add charcoal to the benzoic acid solution, to remove any impurities you may have, then return the beaker to the heat to be boiled"
- Step 4: "use a conical flask with funnel and filter paper, to remove more impurities.
- Step 5: The conical flask is placed into an ice bed to cool so crystals can form. Then use a vacuum filter to gathering the crystals onto a piece of filter paper.
- Step 6: Place the filter paper in an oven to evaporate any left over liquid
