Storyboard Text

  • The assignment this weekend is to go somewhere new, try something new, and adopt a new mindset for a day! Good luck and be creative!
  • Hmm.. what am I gonna do? I've experienced a lot in Oxford already..
  • and I don't really know anything that I could do new in a place that I have become so familiar with.
  • I got it! I'll go down to Cincinnati and try to experience something new there!
  • *My Dorm*
  • Cincinnati Next Right
  • That looks interesting maybe I'll check it out!
  • William Howard Taft MuseumNext Right
  • Oh that's weird.. this place just looks like somebody's house.
  • William Howard Taft Museum
  • Welcome to the William Howard Taft Museum! Admission is free and I'll be around if you need anything!
  • Thank you so much! I'll let you know!
  • I walked around the entire museum, learned a few cool things about William Howard Taft, and decided that it was time to move on and try something new! Just thought it was important to add that it was really cool inside and had a ton of old art and cool rooms that I walked through!
  • I have never gone to a sit down restaurant and had a meal with a random person... so I decided to go into this little diner, sit down at the counter next to someone eating alone, and have a conversation and meal with them!
  • Hi sir, my name is Madison. I'm wondering if I could join you, I really prefer not to dine alone!
  • Of course young lady! My name is Albert, it's great to meet you!
  • I ended up spending about an hour in the restaurant hearing about this man, his life, his family, and a bunch of advice he had for me about colleg and life. It was a great conversation and, even though I offered multiple times first, he insisted on paying for my meal. We ended our impromptu conversation with well wishes. Honestly I think this experience made both of our days, I feel blessed to have run into such a phenomenal human being!
  • As I made my way back to the car I was trying to brainstorm a habit or mindset that I could change for a day but was having a hard time. I decided to go home and ask my roommates what I should do!
  • Hey guys! So I'm working on this project for one of my classes and was wondering if you could help me brainstorm something that I could do to change one of my habits for the day!
  • Yeah of course!
  • We all sat there and thought about it for a minute or two, but were having a little trouble coming up with something even though it seemed like such a simple task.
  • That's a great idea! I'll do that!
  • Oh I have a great idea! I have to brush my teeth before and after every meal or before eating anything, maybe you could try it with me tomorrow!
  • I started my day, as I normally do, by brushing my teeth. This felt normal, but I knew brushing my teeth so consistently throughout the day was going to be a little weird, especially because I had to carry my toothbrush and toothpaste in my backpack all day just in case.
  • Lunch was my first meal of the day because I woke up a little too late for breakfast. I almost forgot to brush my teeth before, but as I was standing in the salad line I remembers, set my food down at the table, and went to brush my teeth before starting to eat.
  • I brush my teeth both before and after my meal, and then I was off to the rest of my classes for the day!
  • I decided to pick up some sushi uptown and wanted to eat it so bad on the way home but decided not to cheat the experiment. So I waited until I got home, brushed my teeth, ate my sushi, and then brushed my teeth again after.
  • Thankfully I wasn't too hungry that day, because it was a huge pain to have to brush me teeth before and after eating. I definitely give my roommate major credit for doing this everyday!
  • So what did I take away from this experience? My favorite part had to be eating at the diner in Cincinnati with Albert, I am really grateful that I met him! My thoughts on divergent thinking after this exercise are honestly that the best thoughts and ideas can come out of nowhere! I found Albert, the diner, and the museum just walking around, looking for inspiration.
  • And even though I had to ask my roommates for help in brainstorming an idea for a a habit I could change, I realized that that was okay and it was not something that I had to hide from you in this little sketch.
  • Bouncing ideas off of other people is one of the keys to being proficient in divergent thinking. Perfecting your ideas is much easier if they can be edited and refined by others! Additional suggestion is the key to making unique and creative ideas.
  • Thank you for listening,I hope you enjoyed it!
