  • There once was a set of audio tapes and books called; "Hooked on Phonics". In the world of science it is 100% important to speak clearly and phonetically so that students understand the words and their meanings. An example I would like to provide is Paleontology. Big word! Some high schools students I have worked with could not say this word correctly. So Phonics came to the rescue.Phonics style -Pale - ee - on - tall - o - geeEven more complicated: Dinosaur names! Such as Micropachycephalosaurus. (mike-row-pack-ee-sef-al-o-sore-us)

  • Universal Design for Learning During experimentation in science classes, it is highly important that you create small groups that conduct the experiment together. I believe that students can learn from each other just as much as they can learn from a teacher. Science is hard, but more importantly it can be inspirational. Let your students set their own goals, create their own hypothesis. As the teacher, ensure you use scaffolding to build up the students learning skills. Always remember, care about your students.
