Scene 1:
Johnny: (1) I can't take this anymore. I'm on thin ice, everywhere we go we have to be careful. We have to turn ourselves in. We are wanted and we are a threat to other people. What I did was self defense, I didn't do anything. (3) I know, but if we get caught we'll be in more trouble.
*Loud Cursing.* Dally: (2) Trust me Johnny you ain't want to end up like me. I hated how the fuzz treated me. You don't know how bad jail is! They'll probably put you in the electric chair. (4) Don't worry they won't find you. You guys barely even match the picture in the newspapers, with those new haircuts.

Scene 3:
Dally: Oh my goodness. Dear lord this is terrible. It must of been from one of you guys' cigarette's.
Description: Johnny and Ponyboy think about turning themselves in. Johnny was almost convinced to want to admit to killing Bob. However, Dally persuaded Johnny not to end up like he did. Dally went to jail at a young age and he didn't want Ponyboy and Johnny to be in that situation. If Johnny turned him and Ponyboy in then they would've been put and jail and tortured.

I don't guess my parents are worried about me or anything.'." (HINTON 87). Dally responds by telling Johnny that the boys are atleast worried. Therefore, Johnny doesn't believe any one is worried for him, but Dally brings up a point that their friends back home like Two-Bit and others are probably worried.

Darry (THINKING): Man I sure wish Pony understands. I didn't mean to hit him, I try my best to protect Pony. I wasn't thinking. (*CRYING*)
