  • Margaret and Mr. Ivanov meet in Canada for a business plan regarding McDonalds. Margaret is the manager of one of the franchises, and Mr. Ivanov was assigned to travel overseas and speak with a business manager as a final project in his program in becoming a restaurant manager back in Ukraine.
  • Welcome to Canada, Andrei. How was your trip?
  • Hello Margaret, call me Mr. Ivanov. My trip was good, but we have no time for chit-chat. Why are you not in a suit??
  • Well actually in Canada we dress formally, but like to leave space for expression. We also like to get to know the person before jumping into any business; lets go for some coffee.
  • Canadians are very personal compared to other countries, and although they like to keep it professional, they also enjoy getting to know the person more as well.

  • So, what are some of your hobbies? We like to connect with our partners beyond the office.
  • Well, em, I like a lot of things, em, reading, documentaries....is this relevant to our meeting?
  • We want to get to know you as a person, because we Canadians believe that the things we do outside of work help define the ideas we create in the office! Let's head back. Coffee is on me :)

  • Oh umm why are there so many, well...., different people here? In Ukraine, every business person is, well, Ukranian.
  • Here you can meet the rest of the team!
  • In Canada, we have a lot of diversity and different cultures in the business panel. We think this allows for better ideas and to better adress to the diverse Canadian population!
