- Every Wednesday night my brother and my niece would come over a family dinner, along with his wife if she was off work.
- Hey, Nathan.
- My brother always says this he knows it will make me feel bad and I'll more then likely end up helping him, but I also figured that my five year old niece shouldn't be too difficult to watch.
- Family always comes first no? How hard is it to babysit Mary and I haven't had a date night in a long time
- Fine, but I get to have Hayley and Sandy over while I babysit.
- On Saturday evening my friends came over to help my babysit.
- Hey, Phia, what are you doing?
- None of your business. Why you here anyway?
- Phia Anna-Elaine, be nice!
- I'm not being mean though I just have a different way of talking like you.
- So, this is your fault then?
- You're a bad influence. You may not be used to having kids around, but you need to watch what you say around her.
- You are the most cynical person I have ever meet and this is clearly going to rub off on your niece
- I didn't think she even payed attention to what I say.
- Of course she does.
- In many ways she is already like you, advanced for her age and she notices a lot of things. she looks at you the way you look at your aunt. with eyes of adoration you're one few in your family going to college and she already recognizes the accomplishment.
- I guess I haven't always been careful with how I've spoke around her
- Are you sure we should be watching this? Sophia is in the next room.

- When Sophia got home, she said something that both shocked and angered her parents.
- Hey, Phia, did you have fun with your aunt?
- Why? You know, if you didn't want me, you could've used protection.
- My brother came back over and asked if I would help talk to Sophia.
- Rissa, I think you need to go and talk to Sophia.
- At the end of the day I'm not the person I want my niece to be looking up to, but at the same time I saw a lot of me in her I wanted to try and talk to her in a way so she knows that I want to be someone she can come to when she's having problems, now and in the future.
- Sophia I'm sorry you picked up on some of my words and got in trouble for it. I should've never talked like that around you to begin with. I promise I will watch what I say but I also want you to know while it's nice to have someone to look up to, I really want to see you follow your own path.
