- I am so excited to meet her!
- I am after a prize tonight. I promise you that I will come back!
- I will wait for you to come back to me!
- I'm going to make sure that we capture that highwayman!
- The highwayman was riding his horse to meet the landlord's daughter, Bess. Bess was the highwayman's girlfriend. Thehighwayman was a person who stole, and robbed other people's belongings whentraveling.
- I can't believe this is happening!
- The highwayman rode up to thehotel where Bess lived. Near by, Tim the ostler was secretly listening to Bess, and the highwayman's conversation. Tim also loved Bess, the landlord's daughter.
- Oh no! I need to warn him!
- Bess waited for thehighwayman to come back, but he didn't. Then, a group of soldiers marched up to her hotel. This was because Tim reported that thehighwayman was coming back there.
- The soldiers drank ale, and were all drunk. They tied Bess up near her bed, and placed a gun beside her.
- Then, Bess heard the sound of thehighwayman's horse coming back to her as he promised. She needed to warn him!After, Bess decided to sacrifice herself to warn her love.
- I can finally see her now!
- After, the highwayman heard the gunshot of Bess, and rode his horse away from the sound. When he was doing that, thehighwayman got shot on the main road where he was riding, and hislife ended there.
