Theme
The theme of the Raven is loss and a lingering grief that cannot be demolished. In this poem the Narrator is haunted by a raven that delivers bad news about his wife Lenore. He is not able to cope with the grief.
The Narrator is so frustrated by the bird that he tells him to go to the underworld so he can mope in his own dispair.
The man screams at the raven to leave and go back to the underworld and the raven says no. The raven tells him he will never be with Lenore due to his soul being in the ravens shadow.
