  • Christian often does not raise his hand. Christian shouts out, "This weekend I saw the Lunar Eclipse and I was so brave I got to use a telescope!".
  • Character Christian's day at Cielo by McKenzie Murdock
  • Meet Christian, he is in Mrs. Smeltzer's second grade classroom. He loves learning, sharing, shouting out his answers, and he wears any issues right on his sleeves.
  • Meet Mrs. Smeltzer, the wonderful second grade teacher. She has been a teacher for the past 37 years. She is one of the best teachers around, who is go, go, go! She gets things done in the classroom! She also accommodates to any student thrown at her.

  • Good Morning class! How was your weekend? Did you all see the Eclipse? Please unpack your bags and free write your weekend news. The worksheet is on your desk.

  • Christian yells at Mrs. Smeltzer and says, "Stop going so fast I can't keep up with you". He throws his pencil down". Christians frustration with writing the words disrupts the class.
  • Christian everything will be okay, just take a minute to relax!
  • I can not keep up with you when you say the words so fast!
  • Mrs. Smelzer points to the area in the classroom where Christian knows he can sit and relax.
  • Christian gathers his thoughts and relaxes for a few minutes so he can come back to the carpet when he is ready again. During this time, Mrs. Smeltzer continues her vocabulary lesson.
  • What is an antonym for the word engine?
  • Christian raises his hand and wait to be called on and says "an antonym for engine is like people" and uses a reference to his favorite game. He was so excited to share with his classmates.
  • Great job Christian! She writes his antonym on the board. She does this to positively reinforce him for being engaged and waiting his turn to talk by raising his hand.
  • Christian smiles and is so happy that the teacher used the word he gave and wrote the antonym on the board.
  • Christian is focused and determined to have a good rest of day. He is focused, sitting up tall so he can concentrate better, raising his hand and relaxing when needed.
  • Thanks for a great rest of the day Christian! See you tomorrow!
