Not every person who... will want to answer your questions. But there are learning spaces. Maybe the key is ..., not getting silenced by the loudest, most self-assured white cis-guys in the room? We might not agree, but we should not be afraid to learn how to get more vocal abou in the German left. Some people aren't as privileged as we are and have to deal with exclusion, diffamation and attacks on a daily basis. I'm startng to wonder if the only people benefiting from pretending its a contradiction are people like Arne... Maybe there is a way to stop being silent, being open to criticism, staying compassionate and engaged. Maybe it helps to talk with your friends about your insecurities and ask people who are most affected by the situation what they need? What do you think?

  • the case with guys like him, he can get pretty self-righteous about stuff he himself has only learned about recently. His peer group is pressuring him into hiding his insecurities behind a security blanket of toxic cis-masculinity. We do, however, agree with Minithecat that the situation is too serious to let guys like him dominate the conversations and keep others from learning together and supporting each other. It is often minorities - whose perspectives are often overheard in favor of Arne's monologues- who pay the price for Arne's unreflected, smug and entitled lack of differentiation. We think it just hasn't clicked for him that the "Nahost-Konflikt" is happening to real people whose experiences don't fit in his narrow-minded world view. He probably doesn't mean to be as hateful, self-important and divisive as he comes across. But hopefully, with a healthy dose of profeminist debate culture, we can get Arne on board later on.
