- The first setting is their house, where Susan, Greg's mother, is preparing for a "pie contest". Greg believes it is really a cover-up for a surprise birthday party for him.

- Where's the surprise party?!
- Greg hid in a supply closet to surprise his family. However, when he emerged, he noticed that it really was a pie contest. His parents then knew that they had forgotten their son's birthday

- To make up for forgetting Greg's birthday, his parents decided to have a redo of the party that could have been. However, the only reason Greg was on board with a redo was because he was looking for a very rare and expensive playing card he could get in presents.

- A deer interrupted the party and everything was in chaos. On top of that, the cake had expired mayo in it, the character that came was one every kid hated, and no one was paying for the things Greg had left out.

- Greg's party didn't go as planned, but he still enjoyed it. But it turns out, people had heard about Greg's superb party planning and wanted him to host their kids' parties. He even had his friend Rowley pretend to be a deer to crash the party which was a big hit
- Greg's birthday definitely wasn't what he was expecting. However, one thing did go right; his aunt gave him the card he was looking for! He was flabbergasted when he saw it in his hand.
