- Czars of the 19th century did not have an efficient administrative system. Lacking care for the people, immense suffering and discontent rose throughout Russia. In the First World War, soldiers lacked basic necessities for war (such as shoes and bullets).

- Nicholas II was forced to abdicate, and a provisional government led by Aleksandr Kerensky was formed. Yet some people want Russia to leave war and start economic reforms, yet people like Kerensky want to fight and postpone reforms.

- Lenin came back from Switzerland and gained support from the people, promising to improve situations. Yet there were no reforms as promised, though he did lead Russia out of war.
