- Ponyboy is walking home from the movie theatre by himself when a red Corvair pulls up. He knows the Socs are about to jump him. In this scene, Ponyboy is just about to back into one of the five Socs. He is trying to back away from the knife that one of the Socs is holding. (Pages 4 - 5)
- Ponyboy and Johnny are talking to Cherry and Marcia. They are at the movies with Dally and Two-Bit at some point or another. Pony and Johnny start to become more comfortable with the girls, and Pony starts talking more with them. The girls are Socs, but they don't seem to mind that they are talking to Greasers. (Pages 18- 32)
- When Ponyboy gets home after (accidentally) falling asleep in the empty lot, Darry begins yelling at him since he missed his curfew. Soda tries to stick up for Pony, but Darry yells at Soda. Pony gets angry and yells at Darry who slaps him in the face. This causes Pony to run out of the house, planning to run away. (Pages 49 -51)
