- Troy has an impact on Rose. After talking to Bono, he later admits to her that he has been cheating on her with another woman, which prompts Rose to say, "Been married eighteen years and I got to live to see the day you tell me you been seeing another woman and done fathered a child by her" (Wilson 65). Rose is heartbroken by the news. This is because Troy broke her trust as he kept his relationship with the other woman a secret for years.
