- In the book Red, White Royal Blue it takes place in Washington D.C. , Alex, his mom the president of the united states, and his sister June, are preparing for the next election when they have to go to a wedding for Henry the prince of England's brother. Alex and Henry have always disliked each other.

- Rising action/Conflict
- during the wedding Alex gets drunk and brings himself and Henry tumbling down into a very expensive cake. This leads to them having to spend the weekend with each other because the president and the queen don't want to show there is conflict between the two of them

- after spending the weekend together Alex and Henry notice they have many things in common so Alex invites him to his annual new years party. At the end of the party Henry kisses Alex.

- Henry and Alex end up dating and months go by slowly they are telling people about there secret relationship. One day there private messages were leaked and every one new and now they must convince Henry's grandmother to let him be with Alex .

- Henry's grandmother allows them to be together and Alex's mother wins the election for the second time.
