- The narrator tells the story from a jail cell. The story is about the narrator takes care of an old man but doesn't like his eye so he has the audacity kills him. He tries to prove his sanity by telling how he did this murder.
- Climax
- Narrator main goal is to prove his sanity. By being kind for a week. He watches the old man sleep. The narrator uses a lantern to see if his eye is open. He asks the old man how he slept because he wanted to know if he suspected anything.
- Falling Action
- On the 8th night the narrator wakes up the old man with his laugh. He looked through a crevice. They then have a one hour stand off then goes back to bed. Narrator opens lantern to see if the vulture eye is open. The narrator believes he is hearing the old man heartbeat increase.
- Resolution
- I did it i killed him
- On the 8th night the narrator kills the old man. He kills him by stifling him with a mattress.
- shriek
- He conceives to dismember the body. He cuts his body up in the bathtub. The narrator puts his body under a floorboard. The narrator invites the police to come in to chat.
- I'm gonna get away with this
- The police come into the house, and they are vexing him. The narrator's face grows pale and wishes they were gone. He gets really nervous, and he confesses to the murder.
