- 1785-1788, served as an American Ambassador in the Court of Saint James.
- He became the first Vice President, from 1789 to 1797, and leader of the Senate.
- They don't seem to care what Americans have to say.
- As first President of the United States....
- So close!
- In 1797 he became President and served till 1801. (His son John Quincy Adams would one day also be President.)
- One day I'll be President too.
- First to live in the White House!
- The XYZ affair, the new French government, the Directory, refuses to work with America without a money bribe. The people are mad and John Adams convinces them not to start a war.
- The President and the People must be informed!
- They refuse to negotiate without a bribe! Insulting!
- He signed the Alien and Sedition Acts, making it hard for foreign born people to participate in American government, and it also called out those who spoke against the government.
- John Adams died July 4th 1826, the same day as Jefferson. (Jefferson had actually died a few hours before John Adams.)
