  • June 12, 1942 Anne Frank Celebrates her 13th birthday. She gets a diary, which she names Kitty. Only weeks before needing to go into hiding in order to escape Nazi persecution. Kitty became a great source of comfort and support to Anne.
  • I love my diary father! I think I will name it Kitty! I can not wait to have my party Sunday.

  • July 6, 1942- August 1, 1944 (761 days) The frank family hid in a secret Annex behind a bookshelf at 263 Prinsengracht. 8 people needed to quietly live in this small space in order to survive.
  • August 4, 1944 all 8 people hiding in the Annex were arrested by the ss and sent to different concentration camps. Otto Frank was the sole survivor of the group.
