HTL culminating project.

Storyboard Text

  • When Nathalie was in school, she hated it.
  • She felt lost, bored, and alone. She thought she hated learning.
  • All she wanted to do was run away, and be a free-spirit.
  • She became an Outdoor Guide and rejected the idea of school. 
  • After a few years on and off in the Outdoor Industry. Nathalie found herself lost, bored, and alone once again. She realized that this was a path leading to nowhere. 
  • Nathalie started selling mushrooms, but it was making her very unhappy and paranoid.
  • Nathalie felt hopeless sometimes.
  • Nathalie's brother was someone who believed in her. And he encouraged her to learn how to code. This started her learning journey.
  • Nathalie began learning with the Odin Project, and found this course called How to Learn.
  • I began to realize that it is possible for me to learn new things. And if I begin to practice these things I can work towards a life I want.
  • Nathalie began to adopt new strategies for learning. Such as using the Pomodoro method to prevent procrastination.
  • I began to understand how I'm not stupid. I just haven't learned good strategies for learning. And that I have more potential than I thought.
  • Nathalie started to feel like she had a chance at happiness again.
  • Nathalie is working towards getting a bachelors, so one day she can become a teacher. She hopes to help students like herself who struggled in school and found difficulty being engaged in learning.
  • Nathalie knows that these next steps are going to be hard, and the biggest commitment she's made in her life. But she feels ready for this challenge and excited to see where this can lead.
