- After Cinderella's fathers' death, she was forced to live in the attic and become the maid.
- She cooked, cleaned, cared for the grounds, and sold bread in the town square to make a bit of money.

- One day, as she was selling bread in the town square, she heard the prince and his royal advisor enter town.
- Attention all wealthy maidens, the Prince's Ball will be held this Friday, promptly at 8:00. All prominent madams are invited!
