Bullfighting Experience

- In Bogota bullfighting happens once a year in January. It happens in a Bullring called ‘Plaza de Toros La Santamaria’, it is named after a famous bullfighting rancher called Ignacio de Santamaria in 1927.
- The most common apparel for bullfighting is a white t shirt and a pair of white or khaki pants, you should wear this because it is a form of respect to the bulls life.
- The easiest way to get there is to get a uber or a taxi because trying to park is almost impossible. And if you try to go in the Transmilenio it would leave you very far away from the bullring.
- It's an amazing feeling arriving to the bullring, everybody will star singing and enjoy themselves. It's a moment to be yourself and express yourself however you want.
- When the first bull goes into the ring it is an extraordinary feeling. It's amazing to see how a 500 kilogram bull starts to circulate the bullring with such anger and pureness.
- My favorite filling about bullfighting is when the bull passes the bullfighter cape. The bull passes centimeters away from the bullfighter, this creates an amazing tension that makes the spectators be in complete silence. It feels like if everything around the cape and the bull would just stop moving for a few seconds.
- In this comic cell we can see the amazing feeling that you get when they pardon the bull's life and how all the people react to it. A bulls life is pardoned because of many reasons, such as his strength, stamina, and his manners to pass the cape. All the people in the bullring raise a white handkerchief meaning that they want the bull to live.
- This anti bullfighting protests are the only boring thing about this wonderful experience. They can get extremely aggressive, sometimes the mayor has to assign more than 1.200 police officers to go and keep everything under control. I would love to see the day that you could go see bullfighting without feeling scared.
