  • Good morning studients, today we will cover the topic of Faults in Tectonic Plates. By the end of the lesson we will be able to answer the question, What are Faults/How do they occur. Types of Faults and their occurance.
  • What are Tectonic Plate Tectonics?
  • Tectonics Plates are massive slab of solid rock made up of Earth's lithosphere (crust and upper mantle). Also called lithospheric plate.
  • Tectonic plate faults occur when stress builds up along the boundaries of the plates. This stress is released through sudden movements, resulting in earthquakes

  • There are 3 types one of one which are Normal Fault- The upper block moves downward relative to the lower block. (dip-slip) Then there is - Reverse/thrust Fault The upper block moves upward relative to the lower block. (dip-slip)
