- Pencey Prep is important in terms of external conflict. This element is important to this setting because at Pencey Holden and Stradlater got into a fist fight after Holden attacked him. After Stradlater got back from a date with Jane.
- Holden's home is important in terms of conflict. This element is important to this setting because Holden was trying to hide from his parents while talking to Phoebe in her room. He was trying his parents knowing he's home.
- Natural History Museum is important in terms off theme. This element is important to this setting because Holden is talking about now the things in the museum stay the same and how everytime someone comes back they change. Here he is talking about how he wishes to stay the same like things in the museum.
- I love how things in here are always the same in the museum.
- Penn Station is important in terms of internal conflict. This element is important to this setting because he could'nt decide who to call and ends up not calling anybody.
- Central Park carousel is important in terms of symbol. This element is important to this setting because Holden says that the carousel always plays the same music symbolizing Holden's dislike for change.
- Central Park roller rink is important in terms of setting. This element is important to this setting because the setting can probably bring back memories to olden so he can explain more about all the things that happened there.
- Radio City Music Hall is important in terms of mood. This element is important to this setting because the mood makes Holden think and reflect on things.
- Record store on Broadway is important in terms of characterization. This element is important to this setting because Holden describes Phoebe as a wonderful girl because, although she's only ten she always understands what holden is talking about when they converse.
