- Captain Smith, is that you? I thought that you were dead. How did you escape the Indians?
- Well, I'm not. I'll answer all your questions once we're inside.
- Inside, briefly into the conversation...
- So, there we were. All our canteens were empty, we were famished, and we were destitute.
- What about the Indians, were they in pursuit of you?
- Yes, they struck at night when our fire was but smoldering embers. They attacked us because they thought that we were intruders, infesting their land
- Did they take you back to their village?
- Yes, by the time we woke up, the sun was climbing abovethe horizon We thought we were done for but instead of killing us, the Indians let us recuperate.
- I don't mean to be prying, but what did they look like?
- I'm getting to that. The natives covered our heads and dragged us to the threshold of their grand hall, where we saw their king, a mighty warrior dressed in a majestic mantle
- What did they do to you? Did they think that you were edible?
- I'll never know. A little Indian princess asked the king to make a sincere promise to spare us and relent in his pursuit of us, and he did. We then treckked through the country until we arrived here, where I proceeded to tell my story to you.
